HUTCHINSON ISLAND, STUART- In keeping with a collection that is reflective of local artists and themes, and as a means to encourage young artists, the Elliott Museum has purchased a piece from the Marvin S. Cone 20th Annual High School Juried Art Show sponsored by The Arts Council at the Cultural Courthouse Center.
The piece, "Untitled" by Alex Fogt, will be added to the Elliott Museum's permanent collection of more 4oo works of art. "Alex's creativity and free expression are apparent in the mixed media piece and I think it will be a tremendous addition to the collection," said Robin Hicks-Connors, President/CEO of the Historical Society of Martin County and the Elliott Museum. "We considered a number of pieces - the quality of the work and the talent in this years show was inspiring. In the end, we selected Alex Fogt's 'Untitled' because it embodies the genius of innovation and creativity that is the cornerstone of our mission.
The Elliott Museum houses a wonderful collection of art - in fact, the Elliott Museum's collection of more than 400 pieces is the only publicly held collection of art in our community.
"Untitled" by Alex Fogt will remain on exhibit through June 16, 2006 at The Court House Cultural Center Gallery located at 80 E. Ocean Blvd. After that, the piece will be maintained as part of the permanent collection at the Elliott Museum.
