COAST GUARD STATION OPEN HOUSE IN FORT PIERCE
Contributed by: Terry Barth, FSO-PA on 4/29/2008

The Coast Guard Station in Fort Pierce will be hosting an Open House for the Treasure Coast community on May 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an opportunity for the public to visit the Station and meet the men and women who protect and serve the Treasure Coast.

There will be tours of Coast Guard cutters, interactive displays, Search and Rescue demonstrations, safe boating information, the Smithsonian Marine Station's "touch tank", and local public safety and marine law enforcement agencies. For "kids" of all ages, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will also have "Coastie", the robotic Coast Guard tugboat, and PFD Panda.

Coast Guard Auxiliarists will also be on hand to explain Americas Waterway Watch. This is a program developed for the public to help the Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security protect our country by reporting any suspicious or terrorist activities along our coastline.

We invite you to meet Coastie in person and enjoy all the other activities by attending the Coast Guard Station Open House at 900 Seaway Drive in Fort Pierce on May 17th.

The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge and parking is free. Food and beverages will be available.

Come on out for a fun-filled and informative day that is sure to please "kids" of all ages!
