Exchange cash for seafood at The Prawnbroker
Contributed by: LogOn The Loggerhead on 4/25/2006

Someone who needs money in a hurry might exchange something valuable for cash at a pawnbroker. When LogOn needs seafood in a hurry, this turtle can make a visit to The Prawnbroker.

I stumbled on The Prawnbroker Grill one day when I crawled by Harbour Bay Plaza on Sewall's Point. A sign points to the restaurant, which is tucked inside the plaza next to a few shops.

As I walked inside, I felt like I'd left sunny Florida. The dining room looks like an upscale English pub, suitable for a family dinner or a place to have a drink.

The lunch menu, of course, features seafood. Customers can choose from grilled shrimp skewers, a crunchy grouper sandwich, a crab cake sandwich, roasted clams and other foods from the sea.

People who prefer food from dry land also have plenty of choices. The Prawnbroker offers six different salads and makes hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. The names of some of the meals have distinctly local names, including the Prawnbroker Salad, the Jensen Beach Burger and the Sewall's Point Chicken Sandwich.

I went back to the seafood portion of the menu for my meal. I started with a cup of the soup of the day, seafood chowder ($1.95). The thick soup was filled with vegetables and small chunks of seafood and came with a package of oyster crackers.

For the main course, I ordered a Prawnbroker specialty, raspberry coconut shrimp ($8.95), with French fries and rice.

Six large, butterflied shrimp covered with coconut took up a significant portion of my plate. I passed on the mango fruit salsa that came with the meal, but I dipped every one of my shrimp in raspberry horseradish. The sauce gave my coconut shrimp a tangy taste that was nothing like anything I've ever tasted from the sea.

With my business transaction complete, I headed back to my job on the coast to make some more money for my next trip to The Prawnbroker.
