RiverWalk Jazz Continues Through Summer
Contributed by: Mika Roberts on 7/30/2007

By popular demand and the out crying of local jazz fans along the Treasure Coast, The RiverWalk Jazz series will be continuing the series throughout the hot months. However the actual time of the show has been pushed into the evening hours to catch the cooler breezes and shadier hours of the day.

The jazzin' line up for August and September is:

Sunday August 5, 4-7 p.m. - Rodolfo Zuniga. He and his contemporary jazz quintet came together under the diverse cultural influences of Miami, Fl. This is very evident in their sound which has always plays up the different ethnic backgrounds and experiences from each band member. The group is comprised of Robert Smiley from Fort Lauderdale on Sax, Lasim Richards from St. Thomas on Trombone, Fernando Ulibarri from Costa Rica on Guitar, Mike Bordelon from Miami on Bass and Rodolfo Zuniga from Costa Rica on Drums. The band has performed in Central and South America as well as keeping a busy schedule in South Fl. Most recently, the quintet was featured in a week long residency in CARNEGIE HALL culminating in a concert. The Quintet just released its debut CD entitled "Premonition". www.rzquintet.com

Sunday September 2, 4-7 p.m. - Robert Navarro and Latin Groove. Robert's signature sound is the band'smixture of hot Latin rhythms into their entire repertoire. This along with the bands sizzling energy and creative improvisation makes Latin Groove unique among bands for both exceptional dancing and listening pleasure. Much of their repertoire has been chosen from the most popular tunes in the Jazz as well as a few originals from their upcoming CD. Included are those tunes made popular by great Latin Jazz legends such as Ray Barretto, Chano Pozo, Charlie Palmieri, Eddie Palmieri, Cal Tjader and many more. What is also uniquely to Latin Groove is that they often will weave Puerto Rican folkloric dance melodies, such as 'Bomba y Plena' into their live performances. www.rnrproductionsinc.com
