Volunteers Needed at New PAL Center - The Fort Pierce Police Athletic League is looking for volunteers for their new PAL Center. They need a boxing coach, greeter, music/light person, and a minor (light duty) repair person. GYAC Collects School Supplies for Local Youth - Taking into account the current economic situation the Gifford Youth Activity Center will collect School supplies all summer to help local youth get the 2008 school year off to a good start this fall. This year the Center has "drop boxes" available for all local businesses willing to place one at their locations. School supplies, everything from paper & pencils to backpacks & calculators, are needed. The Gifford Youth Activity Center welcomes donations from individuals and local businesses. Please bring school supplies or your tax deductible cash donation to Gifford Youth Activity Center, 4875 43rd Avenue in Vero Beach any weekday between 8am-5pm. Port St. Lucie Power Squadron Free Vessel Safety Checks - check boat's PFDs, lights, registration & required safety items to verify that they meet state and federal regulations. First Place 4 Health - 6:15pm, Wednesdays through 7/23 - The community is invited to participate in the First Place 4 Health program at King's Baptist Church. This is a Christ-centered health program for men and women of all ages incorporating Bible study, Scripture memorization, prayer and balanced eating and exercise plans to provide the opportunity to change your life, not only physically but spiritually and emotionally. Helen Abbott Theatre of Hope Sends Youth to New York City - The Fort Pierce Police Athletic League supports the Helen Abbott Theater of Hope, a program well known in the community for drama, dance, and encouraging young talent in the Fort Pierce area. In recent years these youth have performed in videos, DMV talent shows, III Act plays and a documentary of Zora Neale Hurston. Fort Pierce PAL is awarding members of the team a trip to New York for excellence in their performances. In July, the Dance & Drama Team, Bernecia Burns, Melissa Santiago, Rita Santiago, Jana Stovall, Jada Stovall, Alyson Watson, and Cimone Watson, willvisit the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in New York City. They hope to attend the professional theatrical performance "Lion King" but financial assistance is needed to obtain these tickets. You can support these hard working talented youth by making a tax deductible donation to the Ft. Pierce Police Athletic League, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
