A Food Drive is now in progress in hopes of making the September 20, Day of Caring Food Distribution even more successful than the tremendous school supply give-away at the recent GYAC Back-to School Bash! Oneighty "Last Splash" - Riverside Church's youth group, will end the summer with The Last Splash pool party. The youth will meet at the church where buses will take them to the North County Pool at 5:45pm. Celebrate the JOY of Life! - 6:30pm - Care Net Pregnancy Services will hold its 19th Annual Fund Raising Banquets at Hutchinson Island Marriot Beach Resort, 555 NE Ocean Blvd in Stuart. You have an opportunity to choose between two dates to attend "Celebrate the JOY of Life." Meet Care Net clients like Jennifer and her little girl, Alana, born 12/2/07. She feels they have much to celebrate. This year's keynote speaker, Dr. Bob Reccord, author, senior pastor, president of one of the world's largest mission's organizations, distinguished speaker at PromiseKeeper's and the Care Net National Conference, is a passionate supporter of the value of the life of every child. He was himself, a crisis pregnancy and adopted. The annual banquet is the primary fundraising event for Care Net Pregnancy Services. "Day of Caring" Food Distribution - 11am continuing while supplies last - Instead of painting, landscaping and giving the Gifford Youth Activity Center a face-lift when the United Way holds a "Day of Caring" at GYAC this September, the Center is teaming-up with volunteers from the United Way to give food baskets to local families in need. Individuals and families will be able to receive a hand up during the "Day of Caring", made possible by the United Way of Indian River County, GYAC, local businesses, agencies, and individuals carrying out the distribution of food at the Center. Operation Christmas Child Sebastian Kick-Off - 10am-4pm - The First Baptist Church of Sebastian will kick-off Operation Christmas Child 2008 with a huge Family Fun Day at River View Park. There will be games, music, food, bake sales, and loads of fun for the entire family. PSL Power Squadron Boat Smart/Safe Boating Class - 9a-4p Saturday/2-4p Sunday - The course will cover basic seamanship, navigational aids, knot tying, and much more. Passing grades may lower insurance premiums; students completing the course will meet the Florida F.W.C. boat license requirements, and for new members, the course cost will be credited toward your PSL Power Squadron membership fee.
