TWO BY TWO, a delightful Richard Rodgers musical comedy produced by A Possible Dreams Theatrical Productions, is about Noah and the Flood. The play opens Friday, August 17, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Palm City. There's plenty of laughter and maybe even a few tears in this retelling of this famous story. John Sabo directs, with musical direction by his wife, Vyki Sabo.
Building an Ark is just one of Noah's problems! In the show's first song, six hundred year old Noah plaintively asks God, "Why Me?" But later, God works a miracle and Noah sings, "I Feel Like I'm Ninety Again!" Like most fathers, Noah is befuddled by the younger generation - namely, his three sons. Likewise, when the sons hear from Noah that they need to build a big boat, they think he's gone insane and sing, "Put Him Away!" Other songs include the lovely ballads "I Do Not Know a Day I Did Not Love You" and "Something Doesn't Happen".
Jim McConville takes on the challenging role of Noah and Merrilee Lawrence plays Ester, his wife. The eldest son, entrepreneur Shem, is played by Tom Hausler and Deborah Wiggins is Leah, his wife. Noah's second son, Ham, played by Jon Bates, is dissatisfied with his marriage to Rachel, played by Jenna Pinchbeck,. The youngest son, Japheth, played by Mike Jordan, is secretly in love with Rachel. Sandra McNiff rounds out the cast as Goldie, one of the Golden Girls at the Temple of the Golden Ram.
