Contributed by: Sam Yates Yates & Associates on 5/7/2008

INDIANTOWN, Florida/May 8, 2008- A panel of expert speakers has been announced for the upcoming 14 th Annual Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair. The largest hurricane preparedness event of its kind in Florida will be held at the Treasure Coast Square, Jensen Beach on May 31 and June 1.

The Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair is designed to showcase the latest in technology, preparation and information vital to weathering the big storms. "One of the big draws is our panel of experts. Each expert will address an area of concern to our residents," said Rob Shelt, Director, Disaster Services, American Red Cross Martin County Chapter.

This year's panel of experts and their topics include:

· Mike Lyons, WPBF CH 25 - 2008, Batten Down the Hatches?

· Fred Burkey, University of Florida Extension Service - Preparing Florida Landscape for Severe Weather

· Steve Weagle, WPTV CH 5 - Hurricane Formation, Tracking & Forecasting

· Vicki Williams, Florida Department of Financial Services - My Safe Florida Home Free Home Inspections & Grants

· Craig Davenport, WPEC 12 Weather - As the Wind Blows

Nick Blount, Florida Power & Light - Before, During, After: Power to the People!

The 14 th Annual American Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair will also feature the Red Cross Disaster Education Simulator. The simulator will give residents who have not experienced a hurricane the opportunity to feel the sound and fury of the big storm without the associated dangers. "The hurricane simulator is always a big draw for young and old alike. It is very realistic. Once people hear and see the power of a hurricane, they are more likely to pay attention to what the many exhibitors at the Hurricane Fair have to offer," said Shelt.

According to Mike Heissenberg, President of Expert Shutter, "It's a known fact that advance preparation for hurricane season can save lives. We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the 14 th Annual American Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair. We are equally proud of the work the American Red Cross does each and every day in Martin County, not just during hurricane season. When disaster strikes, the American Red Cross Martin County Chapter is there with immediate help."

Each year, tens of thousands of people attend the two-day Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair. To find out more information about becoming an exhibitor at the 14 th Annual Red Cross/Expert Shutter Hurricane Fair, contact the Chapter at 772-287-2002.
