INDIANTOWN, Florida/ March 5, 2008 - An anonymous donor has upped the ante in the Heroes for the American Red Cross fundraising campaign. The donor will match every dollar, up to $10,000.00 donated that allows the Martin County Chapter to exceed the $50,000.00 that was raised by the Chapter during last year's Hero Campaign.
"This means that if an additional $10,000.00 can be raised above our goal, the anonymous donor will match it dollar for dollar," said Mary Sawyer, Executive Director, American Red Cross Martin County Chapter. "This is a special challenge and I urge each and every one of our Heroes, or someone who wants to become a Hero by raising $1,000.00 for Red Cross, to do their best in this three week long fund raising campaign," added Sawyer. This year's fundraising goal is $60,000.00 for the Martin County Chapter.
The annual Heroes for the American Red Cross Campaign will kick-off on March 13 for Martin County. The funds raised will make it possible for Red Cross to respond to the many disasters that may occur locally, such as house fires, wild fires, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.
In addition to Hero opportunities, a variety of sponsorships are also available for the Heroes for the American Red Cross fund raising campaign. Heroes and sponsors receive significant publicity throughout the Heroes fundraising campaign and are recognized during a special kickoff and wrap-up event.
