The Garden Club of Stuart's Greatest Garden Weekend 2008 March 29 & 30 includes the Secret Gardens Tour and third annual Expo. Tour 10 secret gardens located in Palm City, Stuart, Sewall's Point and Hutchinson Is. Sat. 10a.m.-4p.m.; Sun., 11a.m.-4p.m.
Expo, located at Halpatiokee Park,7645 S.E. Lost River Road, off Kanner Highway near I 95 Exit 101, will be open from 9 to 4 both days. Expo is The Garden Club of Stuart's third gathering of nurserymen and garden related vendors, combined with an educational forum that includes seminars on native plants and grasses, bonsai, flower arranging, orchid judging. It is also a showcase for community organizations that focus on roses, bonsai, local wildlife, master gardening, Florida friendly yards, and much more. There is ample parking; free with a Tour ticket; $2.00 without a Tour ticket.
The Garden Club of Stuart has been serving the community since 1936. Its members are of all ages, and share a keen interest in horticulture, floral design, and serving the community.
The Garden Club of Stuart is pleased to share a portion of the proceeds with Treasure Coast Hospice. The Hospice Butterfly Garden is one of the 2008 tour stops. Other civic projects which will benefit from the proceeds of the Secret Gardens Tour and Expo are academic awards, camp scholarships, horticulture education, conservation,civic beautification, garden therapy, horticulture books for the library system, floral design, and landscape design.
Tour Tickets are $25.00 each. They are non-refundable and must be presented at each garden for entry. The tickets are valid for both days, so you may visit the gardens and Expo at your leisure. You may visit the gardens in any order you wish. Driving directions are provided for your convenience.
