As someone once said, "I'm mad as Hell and I'm not going to take this anymore". It's time those of us whose tax dollars are being spent willy-nilly to speak up and loudly. These days the media only talks about are those who are losing union jobs (it's Unions who have caused a lack of manufacturing inside our borders and an inability to compete), the poor welfare recipients (they never held a job and/or remain unemployed and don't know who their children's fathers are), or bailout dollars that fund obscene packages for executives who ran companies into the dirt.
No one mentions those still working, retired and elderly, who contributed for years to the tax base, and whose tax dollars are now being spent so irresponsibly. Where are our perks? Will we get any money refunded through the Stimulus Package or Bailouts? I'm not aware of anything that references or protects this demographic (oh, except the cutting of existing programs). This may speak volumes and should put those of us over 50 years old and the AARP on alert.
How are our hard earned savings protected as the "Obama/Pelosi" government begins to nationalize banks? Does it state, that we, who invested in the private sector through IRAs and 401Ks and savings, to care for ourselves, will have our valueless investments replaced when the government takes over the stock and earnings that rightly belong to us? Is there a plan or do we get a handout too (I'm past child bearing age so I can't get a welfare check) and if you plan on giving me an annual $400-$1,200 check for a year or two - that just won't do it!
Everyone is selling off investments, so why do the "brains", a term I use lightly, in Washington who are running this country think anyone is going to put money back into companies and institutions that are in the red or being taken over by the government? The market is plummeting due to a lack of confidence in their ability coupled with a monumental spending bill. How many of them ever held a real job (not government subsidized) or started a company that created jobs? But by all means "spread the wealth" which is mine and others like me who worked their tails off but get no consideration from the "BB" (BAMA BRAINSTORM). And while you're at it, put the country back into a welfare state by reversing what Clinton accomplished (boy is this change or what?) and oh, don't forget to fund other countries' Planned Parenthood with millions of our dollars.
Now I hear our "NEW MESSIAH" is going to cut the deficit he just created - in half! How? I forgot, there will be increased tourism now - between Cuba, and the USA! More taxes on higher earners (gee, except for the fact there aren't any left) and removing our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan (P.S. there's no massive defense line item in the stimulus that would create jobs). Instead of still stumping the campaign trail the "great one" should be at the White House encouraging people, through tax breaks, to create small businesses that become big businesses. That's what puts others to work. Take back our manufacturing, no more outsourcing, limit unions, drill and produce our own oil and jobs will naturally flow and earned money will once again be spent and invested. Put an immediate moratorium on payroll taxes and give tax incentives to invest. (Duh, he'll even have someone to tax again). This is only common sense unless you are bent on destroying the free market system and ultimately the USA as we know it.
Now locally, for those who think all this money is going to create jobs in their County - take a hard look. When a project is federally subsidized, bids are national NOT regional or statewide. Do you really believe building bridges & roads will produce thousands of jobs locally? You might get a ripple effect but to think an out of work health care giver, professional, gardener or housekeeper will be hired to build a bridge is a dream (of course "the big O" may "have a dream"). The job will go to a company with the experience and they will bring in their own equipment and manpower. And Governors better rethink accepting money toward "free" programs. I'd like to know what happens when the federal money ceases - do residents have to cover these new or expanded programs in perpetuity? If so it will cause deeper state budget deficits.
Our only salvation for the future and following generations might be a return to the work ethic and morality of the fifties. Teach children respect for themselves and others, learn the value of hard work as it relates to success and money (instant gratification is not gratifying), don't buy what you can't afford, learn to speak English properly and spell (this abbreviated texting is creating mental midgets), if you can't read a contract you have no business signing it, dress for success (please cover the crack in your rear, square your hat on your head and tie your shoes) and lose the mentality "the government will take care of me".
You should be as fearful as I am that "THE OBAMA" can't or won't help us. Hopefully God can and will - oops I forgot, I can no longer say the G word in our new socialistic state. Maybe we need to change that too!
