Valentine Mishap Averted!
Contributed by: Dave Pogue on 1/31/2007

My husband and I were married in 1956 and shortly after that he was shipped to Japan with the Navy. A few months later my mother-in-law shipped me off to Japan to join him and gave me a big box of See's candy to take along-assuring me that that was one of my husband's favorite things in the world. He was delighted when the candy and I arrived.
Nearly 50 years later when I was trying to think of something romantic to do for my husband for Valentine's Day, I remembered the special candy and was able to order a 2 pound box to be delivered to our home. You can imagine my disappointment when I found the box outside the front door in the bushes with a hole in the end of the box and 3 pieces of candy left. I was able to replace the box of candy and my husband (with memories of our first valentine's in Japan) had a wonderful time munching on the chocolates. I'm not sure about several raccoons in the neighborhood who must have had terrific stomach aches that Valentines Day!
