Sheriff Crowder to seek Re-Election

Sheriff Robert L. 'Bob' Crowder officially kicked off his 2008 campaign for re-election with an announcement to over 200 friends and supporters last night. "I have been honored to be the Sheriff of Martin County since 1992," Crowder told the gathering.

"My career with the Martin County Sheriff's Office began in 1965. I have served as a dispatcher, jailer, clerk and fingerprint technician. I became a patrolman for the Stuart Police Department in 1968. The following year I was selected as the first detective in the history of that department. While in that position I was instrumental in implementing the system for maintaining criminal records and identification files," added Crowder.

In 1992 Bob Crowder was elected the Sheriff of Martin County. He was re-elected for three more terms in 1996, 2000, and 2004. He is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University and several law enforcement management programs, including the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Chief Executive Seminar.

In 2003, Crowder was recognized by his fellow Florida Sheriffs when they elected him President of the Florida Sheriff's Association. He and his wife Debbie Crowder, a retired consultant, have four married children and five grandchildren.
