20,000 Books and Counting!
Contributed by: Dorothy Kamm, Yates & Associates on 2/13/2008

The Koinonia Foundation has secured 20,000 technical books for a growing number of schools in Rwanda and is now conducting a drive to raise funding to ship the books. According to Andrew Williams, President, The Koinonia Foundation, one of the technical schools that the Foundation has been working with is the Ecole Technique Officielle, which translates into the Official Technical School, of Giterama. (Giterama is the name of the Province where the school is located.) "The school is a secondary school, with a strong emphasis on technical training," explained Williams. The classes are divided into five technical streams of Automotive Mechanics, Electrical, Electronic, Carpentry/Construction, and Public Works. The more than 400 students are equivalent to 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th grade students here in the United States. Now, with 20,000 books and counting secured, additional schools may be helped by the Library Project.

The special Library Project is headed up locally by Ashley Garrigan of the Hoke Library in Jensen Beach, Florida, USA. To make a donation to the Library Project for Rwanda, contact Ashley Garrigan at info@kfaid.com. One hundred percent of funds raised will go to the library.

The Koinonia Foundation hopes to have raised the funds needed for this summer's Library Project donation by spring. You may continue to assist the work of The Koinonia Foundation with a generous donation, and can specify that your donation goes for shipping. To donate, visit The Koinonia Foundation website at www.kfaid.com.

The K-Light, a solar powered lamp that can operate from 10 to 20 hours on one charge, also will be available for sale in time for Hurricane Season. A portion of the sale of K-Lights will help fund the shipment, as well as the Koinonia Foundation.

The Koinonia Foundation receives its funding through grants and private donations, of which 100 percent goes directly to projects. Administrative overhead for the Foundation is covered through a grant from the Williams Group I, L.L.C. The Koinonia Foundation was founded by Dale L. Williams, M.D., and remains a family foundation run by the Williams family. The family's goals are to expand the Koinonia Foundation across Africa and to continue to interact and cooperate with organizations in the United States and abroad.

The Koinonia Foundation is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Jensen Beach, Florida. For additional information about the Koinonia Foundation, contact Andrew Williams, President, at Andrew@kfaid.com, or visit their website at www.kfaid.com.
