Stuart Boat Show celebrates 32nd anniversary
Contributed by: Dick Gruenwald Associates on 1/9/2006

STUART – This year’s Stuart Boat Show, to be held from January 13-15, is bigger and better than ever with more exhibitors, more dockage and land space, and a new port of call that encompasses three marinas – Stuart Cay, Allied Richard Bertram Marine Group, and Stuart Harbor – all located on the north side of the St. Lucie River, on Old Dixie Highway, northwest of the Roosevelt Bridge.

“We are able to showcase additional exhibitors this year at land-based displays because we will close a half-mile section of Old Dixie Highway/State Road 707,” said show producer Rick Allen of AllSports Productions. A quarter-mile of floating docks that Allen had brought in for last year’s show will be incorporated into the existing docks at the three marinas.

In 2004, two hurricanes did extensive damage to the marine industry on the Treasure Coast that resulted in millions of dollars in losses for boat owners, according to Vera Locke, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast. In 2005, Hurricane Wilma focused its fury on the Lake Okeechobee area, as well as Palm Beach and Broward Counties. “We believe a lot of those people will be visiting the show this year, looking to replace boats and equipment that were damaged or destroyed,” added Allen.

Over 200 local, national and international exhibitors are expected at this year’s show with more than 250 in-water boats and at least another 250 boats featured on land.

Hundreds of models and over 80 brands of boats, including well-respected names such as Kadey Krogen, Bertrams, Hatteras, Azimuts, and Edgewater will be represented at the show. Visitors can board a 48-foot ocean-going trawler yacht complete with elegant cherry wood interiors, or sit at the helm of a sporty cruiser or speedboat. For something totally new, the Mainship and Luhrs lines of boats will feature models never before seen in this area. If fishing is the name of the game, anglers can choose from skiffs, sport fishing boats, or pontoons. For the adventurous, the latest in personal watercraft and water skiing boats will be on hand, including the new FX160 Wave Runner high-output cruiser.  Exhibitors also will feature marine electronics, outboard and inline engines, boating equipment and accessories, fishing gear, nautical clothing and jewelry, and financing and insurance companies. Several companies that specialize in boat docks and lifts can provide services for rebuilding or replacing storm-damaged docks and lifts.

“This show has it all...more exhibitors, more boats, entertainment, festive foods, and a beautiful, new waterfront location,” said Allen.

The intimate setting of the Stuart Boat Show offers boating enthusiasts a relaxed atmosphere with value-added services and features the big shows can’t match, such as free parking, shuttle buses, and complimentary water taxi service to and from the show via Southpoint Anchorage in downtown Stuart.

The 32nd Annual Stuart Boat Show will be held at the Stuart Cay Marina, Allied Richard Bertram Marine Group Marina, and Stuart Harbor Marina located on Old Dixie Highway, northwest of the Roosevelt Bridge. Admission is only $10.00 and children under 10 are free. There will be two entrance gates for the show and visitors arriving from the downtown area are encouraged to use the free water taxi. Show hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, January 13-14 and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15.

The show is owned by the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast and is produced and managed by AllSports Productions, Inc. For show information call 772-692-7599.
