JUPITER ISLAND,Florida/May 10, 2006 - The 2006 Treasure Coast Sport Fishing scheduled for May 19, 20, 21 at the Treasure Coast Square mall will feature approximately 100 of the newest boats, motors and trailers now available on the market for the boating and fishing enthusiast. "We have a dozen local marine dealers, yacht brokers and boat ownership-sharing companies who will be displaying their products and services during the three day free Expo," said Sam Yates, Expo founder. "Now is a great time to purchase a boat, fishing equipment and related marine equipment at Expo bargain prices," added Yates.
The Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Expo drew an estimated 30,000 free visitors last year and organizers expect equal to larger crowds this year. "We literally have something for everyone. Boats and motors of all sizes, fishing lures, survival food, waterfront property for sale and nautical equipment. To help kick off National Safe Boating Week, we even have a safe boat handling simulator for would be boat owners to try their hand at the helm," added Yates.
According to Tom Knighten, Director of Development, Chapman School of Seamanship, "Safe boating is literally no accident. We are proud to launch our new Boating Simulator at the Expo to show our commitment to boating safety."
The Chapman Boat Handling Simulator features a four-foot long, twin-engine power boat that is operated by remote control. The remote control station features a steerable helm, twin controls with variable throttles and separate forward and reverse selectors just like a real boat. The boat, dock, piers and obstacles float inside a custom-made pool that will be located inside the Treasure Coast Square mall. "The simulator allows the person at the helm to dock, undock and maneuver around obstacles such as buoys, piers and pilings as if you were piloting a large twin-engine sport fishing vessel. This will be an opportunity for someone who has been considering the purchase of a boat to get a hands-on idea of whether they can handle the basics of safe boating without taking a real boat out from the docks. Safe boating is the hallmark of a competent boater," added Knighten.
The Expo will also feature the incredibly popular free fishing seminars for Treasure Coast fishermen. "Henry Caimoto and Captain Squeaky from the Snook Nook have lined up a star studded array of local fishing experts who will be conducting seminars and going one-on-one with fishermen on topics ranging from offshore trolling to how to catch snook, redfish and other inshore fish. We literally have people lined up to speak to our experts. Best of all, it's free advice, tips and tactics," said Yates.
