Contributed by: Sam Yates Yates & Associates on 5/30/2006

JUPITER ISLAND, Florida/May 30, 2005 - Four new members of the Treasure Coast's Sport Fishing Industry have been inducted into the Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame. The inductees into the Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame represent individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to the multi-million dollar Sport Fishing Industry on the Treasure Coast.

Inductees to the Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame and their categories are:

Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Categories

Offshore: Capt. Ray Parker

As a Lifetime Achievement inductee, Captain Ray Parker is best known for being the owner and captain of the Hobo. Many of the mates aboard his boat have also gone on to achieve legendary status. Captain Parker has fished the Treasure Coast waters for more than 30 years.

Inshore: Capt. Jerry Metz - Master Angler

Captain Jerry Metz is very well known throughout the Treasure Coast. Captain Jerry Metz lives in Fort Pierce. Captain Jerry's Guide Service is on the water more than 200 days each year. He's best known as being a jig man. He's been fishing the local waterways so much that he is legendary in all the local fishing circles. Captain Jerry Metz is a true Master Angler.

2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

Inshore: Capt. Greg Gentile

A native of Chicago, now living in Pt. St. Lucie, Captain Gregg Gentile is legendary aboard his boat River Roamer. Anyone who has fished with Gregg is quick to tell you Captain Gregg doesn't talk about the big ones that got away....more than often, they didn't get away. Captain Gregg is also well known for his outspoken stand on the quality of our local waterways. He was a proponent of cleaning up our waterways long before many of the activism we see today.

Offshore: Capt. Sam Crutchfield

Captain Sam has chronicled his fishing exploits with nearly a dozen CD's out...each one is a bit of a story from his fishing archives. For fishing, Captain Sam is also legendary aboard his boat the Lucky Too. Many world records were set on the boat and many anglers became hooked on fishing thanks to Captain Sam. Those who know him know this recognition for his lifetime of fishing is well deserved.

According to Sam Yates, founder of the Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame, "We have worked with a Board of Advisors to select these four inductees into the Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame from a number of nominations submitted by the general public, Treasure Coast fishermen and, members of the region's marine industries. These are people who have contributed significantly to making the local Sport Fishing industry what it is today." There were no nominees in the Freshwater category for 2006.

The Treasure Coast Sport Fishing Hall of Fame is being designed to become a major tourist attraction for not only the Treasure Coast but the entire State of Florida. "We are excited to be bringing the Hall of Fame to the Treasure Coast. Based on the tremendous response we have had for this year's event, we are looking forward to continuing to build theHall of Fame into something truly unique for our region," added Yates.
