Contributed by: Louise Murtaugh on 9/16/2008

STUART, FL - "Floral, Seascapes and Landscapes are images that I love to paint in oil because it provides the hard and soft edges with each brush stroke," states artist Carol Kepp.

Molly's Gallery will host a Champagne Reception on Thursday, October 2 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Molly's Gallery. Ms. Kepp's work will be featured in the Gallery in the month of October.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Kepp played with pencils and crayons and started painting at the age of 8 when a neighbor who was an artist asked her to dog sit in return for painting lessons. Her first award was in a high school competition. Later Kepp attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cleveland Ad School. Kepp eventually owned her own Art Studio and worked in the advertising world for 12 years. She moved to Florida in 1969 and began painting her soft images of flowers, landscapes and seascapes which she is known for.

Kepp toured with Art Festivals for 8 years and has been teaching art for Martin County Adult Education for over 10 years. She has given workshops and oil painting classes for the Hobe Sound Art League and private lessons in her studio.
Kepp has received over 20 awards for her work. In 2004, she was chosen for the 2004 Art for Living Calendar and for the 2008 Calendar in Florida. She accepted the invitation to the Backus Juried Art Show and Heathcote Botanical Gardens Juried show in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 she participated in the Elliott Museum Juried Show.

Kepp received an award from the American Artist Magazine's National Competition in 1978. Her "Cannon in the Woods" painting was sent to Washington D.C. to be placed on display in the Daughters of the American Revolution Bicentennial Show in 1976.

Kepp is a member of Oil Painters of America and American Society of Landscape Painters. Her work can be viewed at Molly's Gallery, 430 SE Osceola Street, October 1 through October 29th.
