Emma Parssi, the daughter of Juno Isles resident Bijan Parssi, will attend Interlochen Arts Camp, the world's premier summer arts program for aspiring artists grades 3 through 12.

Emma will study theater, chorus and modern dance for two weeks at the Camp, which in 2007 celebrates its 80 th summer at the forefront of arts education. The Arts Camp also shared in the honor recently given to the Interlochen Center for the Arts. In November of 2006 the organization was awarded the National Medal of Arts, the nation's highest honor in the arts. It is one of only a handful of arts organizations ever to receive such recognition.

Interlochen Arts Camp attracts students, faculty and staff from all 50 U.S. states and more than 40 countries. These 3,000 kindred spirits fill Interlochen's Northwoods campus with an explosion of creativity and inspiration. The world's most talented and motivated students train intensively with world-class instructors, and produce more than 450 presentations each summer in dance, theatre, creative writing, visual arts, music and film.

Among the distinguished Camp alumni are Norah Jones, singer Josh Groban, opera and concert soprano Jessye Norman, jazz pianist Eldar, actor Tom Hulce, "Cathy" creator Cathy Guisewite, vocalist Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary and CBS News Correspondent Mike Wallace.

While at the camp, the young artists study alongside and learn from other artists and performers. In 2007, visiting artists include Joshua Bell, Olga Kern, Branford Marsalis, Anthony Rapp and others.

In addition to performances by young artists, Interlochen Arts Festival brings leading artists and performers the northern Michigan campus. Recent guest artists have included Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Jewel, Itzhak Perlman, Van Cliburn, Olga Kern, Arturo Sandoval, Momix, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Willie Nelson, Guster, B.B King, Bela Fleck, Boston Pops, Regina Carter, U.S. Army Band, and Hubbard Street Dance.

Interlochen Arts Camp is part of the nonprofit Interlochen Center for the Arts, recipient of the 2006 National Medal of Arts and the only organization in the world that brings together: a 2,200-student summer camp program; a 500-student fine arts boarding high school; opportunities for hundreds of adults to engage in fulfilling artistic and creative programs; two 24-hour listener-supported public radio stations (classical music and news); more than 600 arts presentations annually by students, faculty and world-renowned guest artists; a global alumni base spanning eight decades, including a galaxy of arts luminaries.
