Rally for the Cure
Tequesta Country Club is taking part in Rally for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness campaign that is the nation's largest grassroots women's golf program. More than 1.2 million people have participated in Rally for the Cure events throughout this country since the Rally's inception in 1996. A full field of players is expected to tee off against breast cancer on Thursday, May 1, at Tequesta Country Club starting with an 11:45 luncheon followed by a scrambles golf tournament and an awards party. As part of the Rally for the Cure activities, a closet-to-the-pin contest will be held at a designated par-3 Rally hole. Titleist golf balls bearing the pink ribbon breast cancer awareness symbol will be awarded to every player who hits that green on the first swing and a prize will be given to the player whose shot lands nearest the hole. The mission of Rally for the Cure is to emphasize the importance of early detection in the successful treatment of breast cancer and to support the goals of Susan G. Komen for the Cure as it works to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. Ginny Roberton and Suzi Compare are working with the committee of Tequesta Country Club volunteers as well as its golf professional, Chris Hayes and his staff in planning the May 1 event.
