(Jupiter, Fl) - Atlantic Arts Academy and The Atlantic Dance Theater are proud to present their "Fifth Annual Spring Dance Concert" on Saturday May 17 th at 7:00pm. Featured in the first act will be an abridged version of "Gaite Parisienne" based on the choreography of Massine with music by Offenbach. This upbeat ballet is set in a café in Paris where various members from all levels of society meet, including upper-class aristocrats, high society-ladies, as well as a lower-class flower girl, along with the professional can-can dancers. The Glove Seller becomes the attention for various rival suitors, including an officer and a Peruvian tourist with two carpetbags full of jewelry, hoping to make his fortune in Paris. In due course, a quarrel between the customers ensues. After order is restored, the ballet culminates in a high-spirited can-can. Featured in the second act will be, "Bob and The Big Apple" . This original musical dance adventure follows Bob and his family in New York City and the surprises that await their visit. This musical production contains excerpts from: Guys & Dolls, New York New York, Stomp, 42 nd Street, Rent, Bring in Da Noise, and West Side Story all set to the backdrop of New York City.
The show will be presented by the Atlantic Dance Theater in association with Atlantic Arts Academy. The Atlantic Dance Theater is a pre professional dance company made up of upper level dancers from Atlantic Arts Academy located in Jupiter, Florida. This is the third professional production for the 2007-08 season for The Atlantic Dance Theater. Previous productions include appearances in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and an original production of The Nutcracker entitled "The Mixed Nut".
The performance of "Gaite Parisienne" and "Bob & The Big Apple" takes place on Saturday May 17 th at 7:00pm at Jupiter High School Auditorium, located at 500 N. Military Trail in Jupiter, Florida.
