Schumacher shares advice with Young Professionals
Contributed by: Stephanie Mitrione on 2/13/2007

Ever wonder what the secret is to becoming a success in today's business world? Those who attended the Young Professionals of the North Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce Unplugged Luncheon on January 31 st were able to learn the tricks of the trade firsthand from a local success story, Chuck Schumacher.

In the accustomed informal and uncensored platform of all "Unplugged" luncheons, the audience was able to ask Schumacher any and all burning questions on their minds. All attendees were of course aware that he is the owner of the Schumacher family of dealerships that has been serving the Palm Beaches for over 35 years; however, few knew much about Schumacher's philosophy. Along with placing value on customer service through continuous employee training and professionalism, he stressed the importance of commitment to the community. He discussed that his opportunity to demonstrate good corporate citizenship and partnership with the community through Schumacher Automotive is as important to him as his customers.

"I thought the lunch was a resounding success," stated YP member Samir Qureshi of Novartis. "Chuck Schumacher did a great job of giving some insight to what motivates him to be a great leader both professionally and personally. The aspect of community involvement was motivating to all in attendance. I can truly take away some points from his talk to implement in the future to be a better community citizen."

Schumacher also stressed the importance of family values to him, and how his family remains his top priority. His final advice to the YPs in the audience was to develop a balance in their lives between family, work and community involvement. As Kerry Perl of Mellon Private Wealth Management and Co-Chairman of YP stated, "We could not ask for a better role model personally and professionally than the Schumacher family. Having Chuck Schumacher and Patti Hamilton [VP of Marketing] attend our luncheon was not only a "coming of age" for YP, but a true privilege. To have folks of their caliber see the value in connecting to our group is a great vote of confidence that we are the future leaders of this community and that we can make a tremendous impact!
