Local Doctor Joins Healthcare Board

Palm Healthcare Board of Trustees Gains Added Experience, Dedication
with New Board Members

The Palm Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce the addition of four new members to its Board of Trustees: Pamela Dean, Dr. David Dodson, Dr. Mark Rubenstein and Pete Martinez.

Pamela Dean, of Wellington, is the Florida Regional President/Managing Director at Harris Private Bank. She graduated from Northwood University, where she received a degree in business administration. Dean will serve on the Audit, Development and Community Investment committees. She and her husband, Lindsey Dean, have two children.

Dr. David Dodson, of West Palm Beach is a physician in private practice with the Traveler's Medical Services Group in West Palm Beach. He specializes in internal medicine and infectious disease. A graduate of Cornell University Medical College, he completed his residency at Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Dodson is also affiliated with Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he was chief of staff. He will serve on the Foundation's Communications and Marketing committee and the Scholarship.

Dr. Mark Rubenstein, of Jupiter, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Science at Florida Atlantic University. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University. He also serves as Section Chief for the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at St. Mary's Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Dr. Rubenstein holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University. He is also a graduate of the State University of New York Health Science Center and he completed his residency at Johns Hopkins University. He serves on the Foundation's Community Investment and Policy & Advocacy committees. He and his wife, Jessi, have two children.

Pete Martinez, 55, is the senior vice president, chief technology and innovations officer for The Quantum Group. An executive with 32 years of international business in multiple industries, Mr. Martinez has led multiple sizable and successful entrepreneurial businesses. From a leadership position in IBM's original PC business, to pioneering the first electronic services on the Internet and the creation of e-business consulting, he has been an innovator of both business and technology.

With a strong technology foundation, Mr. Martinez has been able to define creative solutions to business problems. He has over 20 patents and technical publications in the areas of computer architecture, robotics, optical disks and display. Mr. Martinez is a frequent key note presenter at international conferences and has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, ABC News, The Economist, Univision and CNN .

Mr. Martinez serves on the board of the Palm Beach County Business Development Board, the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, and the Caridad Center, in addition to serving on several advisory boards. Mr. Martinez received a Bachelors of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Miami. He will serve on the Foundation's Communications and Development committees.

Palm Healthcare Foundation is the leading public healthcare foundation in Palm Beach County. The Board of Trustees helps oversee the mission of the Foundation, including asset management, grant making and fundraising.

The foundation's new, $12.5 million Palm Healthcare Pavilion on the campus of St. Mary's Medical Center is the new home of Children's Medical Services, a state-funded program addressing the special medical needs of an estimated 5,000 children in Palm Beach County. The Pavilion also houses a Diabetes Center, an apartment to teach caregiving skills to family caregivers, and a simulation center with life-like mannequins for the education of healthcare professionals.
