VILLAGE ARCHITECTS AIA, INC.RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AURORA AWARDS

The Grammy's Of The Home Building Industry

Village Architects AIA, Inc. of Tequesta Florida was awarded an Aurora Award during the Annual Industry Gala at the 2009 Southeast Building Conference in Orlando. Village Architects AIA, Inc. won for its entry, Custom One of Kind $1,500,001-$2,000,000 in Old Marsh Golf Club.

CASA DEL PANTANO or "House of the Marsh" is a custom designed single family courtyard home reminiscent of the Spanish mission style originating from Florida's early colonial days. Consisting of a two bedroom 1-story main house and a two bedroom 2-story guest house, these two structures are connected by a groin vaulted arcade and summer kitchen, all of which surround and define a private courtyard pool, patio and garden area. The rear of the home takes advantage of the golf course and marsh views through a combination of windows and doors as well as a screened-in dining lanai directly off of the kitchen. Overall massing of the home is intended to appear as an assembly of various gable and hip-roofed structures that reinforce the idea of multiple additions occurring over time. Additional team members are general contractor G.W Purucker Homes, Inc. and JBD Design, Inc. landscape architect.

Village Architects AIA also won three other awards, including "Best in Florida", as part of a team that included general contractor Johanson Homes Inc., interior designer H. Allen Holmes Inc., and landscape architects Parker Yannette Design Group Inc. for the renovation and addition to an existing home on Jupiter Island. Beginning as only a second story addition, this 26-year-old home originally designed by Iconic modern architect Kevin Roche eventually evolved into a 3-year whole-house renovation and modernization project.

The AURORA Awards drew a record 350 entries. Leading industry professionals judged the contenders, selecting the best in new home construction and design in the southeast.

Home building professionals in a 12-state southeast region plus the Caribbean received nationally recognized AURORA Awards for new home construction, remodeling, commercial/mixed use and design excellence. The competition is open to builders, architects, interior designers, landscape architects and other home building professionals in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. AURORA Award winners are announced each year in conjunction with the Southeast Building Conference. SEBC is a 12-state regional conference attended by more than 10,000 home building professionals.
