New Romance Novel Follows Love Story From Chance Encounter in Jupiter, Fla. to a Fateful Reunion.
How many people reach the end of life with unfulfilled dreams? How many are lucky enough to find true love? In her new romance novel,
Man on the Balcony,
Marie Bush Pinschmidt paints the picture of two lost souls who refuse to succumb to instant gratification, but find a true, strong love that comes to those who wait.
Maggie Swanson is the accomplished manager of a medical clinic in southern Ohio. Her lifelong dream of becoming a successful full-time artist doesn't have much promise in her small town. She also dreams of regaining ownership of her old family home and turning it into an artist's retreat.
Disillusioned after a failed romance, the attractive Maggie vacations at an ocesanside hotel in Jupiter, Florida, in an attempt to make sense of her life and questionable future. Instead of sorting out her conflicting emotions, she meets the charming Dr. Brad Newsome, a Virginia gentleman fresh out of his medical residency and searching for a place to practice. Brad is engaged, but uncertain, and against their better intentions he and Maggie fall in love. However, a terrible phone call summons Brad back to Virginia: his fiancee has contracted a fatal disesase.
Maggie ends her vacation believing Brad has no place in her future. She leaves her job and her hometown, moving to New Orleans to live in her uncle's antebellum home for a year of art study. Free of romantic entanglement, she succeeds beyond her wildest dreams in the famous and exciting city.
Will Maggie's dream of regaining the family home and farm come true? Will the paths of Maggie and Brad cross again and bring true happiness, or will their long separation doom any chance for a future together? The answers at the conclusion of
Man on the Balcony
may surprise you.
As a painter in oils and the wife of a physician, having lived in Ohio, New Orleans, and Florida, Pinschmidt drew on her own experiences to inform the characters and settings of
Man on the Balcony,
her first published novel. She has written a sequel,
Maggie's Retreat,
along with two other books:
Dreams Interrupted,
a memoir, and
Spanish Moss,
a novel based entirelyin New Orleans.
