An Excerpt from the novel: VOYAGE TO SALTAR...The Saga And Revelations Of My Journey Back Home

RICH ALBERT

I am reminded, in my conscious, of a song I wrote many years ago while behind bars. I am referring to, being behind, bars that sell alcohol. The song is titled Breakin' Out Tonight. Here are the lyrics and a photo of from the night I performed this song for the employees at the Troubadour in San Francisco. This photo was taken in San Francisco a long time ago. Bobi stopped at the bar the night I sang it for some friends while tending the bar at The Troubadour North. This photo was taken after Bobi and me left the Troubadour and went to her apartment in San Francisco.

Back at Bobi's place in San Francisco

BREAKIN' OUT TONIGHT

We'll I'm breakin' out of here tonight
Got a lot of things on my mind
How's about makin' the big move tonight
They say we haven't got a lot of time

But we still feel like kids in our prime
Some might say we're twenty-nine
But that don't make no difference to me
Cause where I'm from time is always standing still

Chorus
Look in my eyes.... You don't see, no, sorrow
Look in my eyes.... No tears do I cry
Look in my eyes... No tears will I cry

I've been here for a mighty long time
But when I return back into town
We will split our own ways
I was born light years away
But I'm breakin' out tonight
And I'm headin' back to town for a stay

And I will be singing my song

Return to Chours.....................
Look in my eyes.... You don't see, no, sorrow
Look in my eyes.... No tears do I cry
Look in my eyes.... No tears will I cry

Bobi and me are still in San Francisco. We are looking out over our balcony at the Ritz-Carlton. I just finished my renewed performance of Breakin' Out Tonight for my baby Bobi. I strummed the tune to her on the balcony of the Ritz while she looked into my eyes. I looked back into her eyes and I see the night reflecting it's light. Then I say, "Bobi I'm back for a stay and I'm singing my song. Please follow me along. I'm breaking out of her tonight".

I sing one more song for Bobi . This song I wrote around the same time as Breakin' Out Tonight. This one is called Lonesome Cowboy. Here are the lyrics and a photo of the Lonesome Cowboy back at Bobi's apartment a long time ago.

The Lonesome Cowboy at Bobi's place in San Francisco

LONESOME COWBOY

Don't be a lonesome cowboy riding all alone
There are too many places and too many people to see

Ride off by the sunset..... Ride off by the moon
Just be careful when you come upon the enemy

'Cause we are all outlaws we just wanna' be free
Don't got me no home.... But I call the sky my own

'Cause when I go to sleep all the stars fill my head
Don't be a lonesome cowboy riding all alone

How long do you have, can you stay for the night
They might call me cowboy but I think you're the one for me

It's something I rarely see when I look into my dreams
"Cause when I go to sleep all the stars fill my head

Don't be a lonesome cowboy
I can hear them telling me

We kissed and hugged and settled in for the night. I knew I had to get back to my Hollywood Bungalow to accept the shipment for my Recording Studio gear. I tracked it online earlier and knew I had only two days minimum to get back to LA to accept the shipment. My blood was running wild. I could not wait to get back and set up my sounds.

My Studio gear is only semi-professional but there are very few like it around anymore. It is a 16 track Teac Tascam analog system with a Model 15 mixing board on the side. It also has all the outboard equipment needed for a true analog sound. It has Digital delays and all the array of outboard processors. A Master-Room spring reverberation system with two capsule tubes are tied into the system. The one on the left channel is a little different delay than the one on the right channel. To artists I record, it is a paradise in analog sound. Very few set ups can match this system for sound and tonal dynamics.
