With the help of their teacher sponsor, Ashley Pengue, Jupiter Elementary started a Student Government Association (SGA) program this year for students in third through fifth grade. The 15 student members focus on encouraging pride in their school and involvement in the local community. On Friday, April 25, 2008, Arbor Day was celebrated at Jupiter Elementary with fun in the sun planting a new tree.
The SGA students planted a beautiful Robolini tree that was donated by "The Bushel Shop", located on Indiantown Road. In addition, we had help from Principal Daniel Smith and Assistant Principal Gwenn Rives. We dug through rocks, played in the water, and got a little dirty. The SGA members hope that this will help increase awareness of the importance of trees to the students and community of Jupiter Elementary.
