"Spirit of Jupiter" Out Marches the Competition

Students from the Jupiter High School Marching Band returned from the "Striking Cobra Invitational" held at Park Vista High School in Lake Worth on Saturday, October 10th with a sweeping victory with 13 trophies and awards. The eighty-three member band from the "Spirit of Jupiter" performed their show titled 'Mob Mentality' to packed stands while competing in the Class AA division against three other similar-sized marching bands. The "Spirit" pulled First Place in their division and seventh overall against all eighteen bands performing that evening representing four area counties. The "Spirit" band has been perfecting their show since the beginning of the school year. Band members also attended two weeks of summer band camp conducted in June and August.

The "Spirit of Jupiter" won every catagory in Class AA including Superior ratings in Auxillary/Color Guard, Percussion, Music, Visual and Overall Superior grade. Also earned was Best in Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Color Guard, Visual Performance, Music and General Effect.

The marching band will travel to Santaluces High School later this month to perform their show before judges during the Florida Bandmasters Marching Performance Assessment, The "Spirit of Jupiter"Marching Band is under the direction of Ben Skinner.
