Part time Tequesta resident Ethan Wilcox first met Ted Neely and Carl Anderson in 1995 backstage at the Broward Performing Arts Center when Jesus Christ Superstar was touring the United States.
Inspired by Neeley's performance and his dream to be on stage, Wilcox auditioned for a local theatrical production company's presentation of Jesus Christ Superstar and played the role of Pontious Pilate. He repeated the role at different times in the 90's.
In 2002 Wilcox moved to Los Angeles to pursis acting career in film. With several commercials and independent films to his credit he also took time for original development of new work and returned to the Lyric Theatre in the lead role in "The Riverhaven Book Club" by New York composer, John Mercurio.
During the summer of 2006, Ethan was cast in the one night benefit performance of Jesus Christ Superstar, which gathered the original artists Ted Neeley, Yvonne Elliman, Barry Denniman and Ben Verneen to perform. Jack Black, although not an original performer, played the role of Herod.
The National Tour of JCSS had already been cast for the 2006-2007 season but in 2007, Wilcox auditioned for and became a cast member for the 2007-2008 leg of the tour. It was a dream come true for Wilcox.
As of this date Wilcox has performed in over 50 cities in the United States and Canada with a few more to go until this year's tour ends in Tampa, Florida at the end of June. Many of the venues are magnificient old theatres dripping with history of great performances. Wilcox embraces this opportunity to perform with Ted Neely, Cory Glover and an extremely talented cast.
During a quick costume change, wilcox makes certain that he reaches side stage to see Neely perform "Gesthemene" every single night. the line in one of the songs, "Always thought that I'd be an Apostle knew I'd make it if I tried" rings true for Wilcox.
