"Under the Same Moon," a movie about a boy and his mother separated by the U.S.-Mexico border and their struggle to reunite, will be shown Friday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at El Sol, Jupiter's Neighborhood Resource Center.
The film is the third in a seies of "Friday Night at the Movies" programs sponsored by the not-for-profit El Sol Center. The movie is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be availale.
The movie is about a nine-year-old Mexican boy, Carlitos, (played by Adrian Alonso) who sets out to find his mother, Rosario (Kate del Castillo) who immigrated to the U.S. hoping to make a better life for herself and her son. Carlitos crosses the border, and after a series of setbacks, makes his way to Los Angeles where his mother works as a cleaning lady. However, the only information he has about her whereabouts is the description of the street corner where she called him from the same pay phone every Sunday.
El Sol is at 106 Military Trail. The Center serves as a safe, supervised facility where day workers are matched with employers to fill jobs. English and computer classes are offered along with job trainng and parenting classes. For information call 745-9860.
