Caritas, the Latin word meaning an unlimited loving-kindness toward all others, is the heart of the new Religious Gift Shop at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach. Caritas Religious Gift Shop, located within the Parish Center, is completely run by dedicated volunteers and its proceeds help fund the needs of the Parish Family of St. Martin de Porres. On Saturday, November 24, 2007, Caritas Religious Gift Shop celebrated its Grand Opening by offering quality religious merchandise to both the parishioners of St. Martin's and to the community at large. Manager Nancy Lyons says, "I like to think of Caritas Religious Gift Shop as a little Boutique catering to the religious needs of Catholics as well as offering a variety of gifts to be enjoyed by Christians everywhere. Specialty gift items such as Swarovski rosary beads, artwork from Italy as well as from local artist, Carol Kepp are just a few of the specialty items we carry." Nancy, a parishioner who majored in Marketing and Distributive Education at Rider College in New Jersey, managed a variety of retail establishments prior to the birth of her children. Parents of school-aged children in Martin County will recognize her from her volunteer work with the PTA's and within the Martin County School District. Her caring touch and attention to detail is evident throughout the shop. The Parish Family at St. Martin de Porres is grateful to have such a dedicated and talented individual manage the store. Our heartfelt thanks go to Marni Abate, Phyllis Arthur, Rose Bocchino, Barbara Consalvo, Meg Faughnan, Frank and Diane Giordano, Donna Hernandez, Carol Kepp, Peggy Lyons, Rita Lyons, Josephine Mancuso, Marian Marrone, Agnes Mulligan, Roberta Onufrey, Pat Ruge, Barbara Tivman and Madeline Wahl for the countless hours they spend serving our customers. These volunteers exemplify the meaning of the word Caritas.
Rev. James E. Molgano, Pastor of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, also has a strong background in retail. Prior to his ordination to the Priesthood, he opened the first free standing Pier 1 Imports store in Florida. Father Molgano is committed to offering "a full range of sacred art and merchandise that includes cards, CD's, DVD's, videos, religious jewelry, nativities, children's section, books and so much more. The shop's focus is to present to the consumer quality mid-range to high-end religious items from around the world while maintaining the highest standards of business practices from purchasing to point of sale. Most of our products are of heirloom or collector quality that will gladden the heart of the most joyful giver."
Father James, Nancy and all the Caritas volunteers invite you to come see their selection of gifts for that special person or special occasion. Gifts for baptism, communion, confirmation and weddings can be found here as well. If you can't find what you need within the shop, they will be happy to special order for you.
