Youth from Jupiter attended the 2 nd annual "Modest Prom" in Stuart, Saturday, sponsored by the regional congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"We worked so hard since last September, but it was worth it to see the kids have such a great time," said Frances Mooneyhan, a Tequesta parent and regional youth leader. "Any parent would feel safe sending their kid to this dance."
The theme was
Anchor in Safe Harbors, and the requirement for the 85 young adults to "step aboard" was covered shoulders, no drugs or alcohol, and no questionable dance moves.
Bishops from several different cities served the three-course dinner. Julie Deboskey is a Mormon leader who lives in the Bluffs. "I am so tired," she said the morning after. "But it was really, really, fantastic. What was really neat to see was how many adults cared that these kids had a good time."
