Contributed by: Faith Fick on 3/9/2008

St. Peter the Apostle Orthodox Mission of Jupiter will celebrate the Feast of Orhtodoxy on Sunday, March 16th beginning at 10am. This feast is celebrated on the first Sunday of Lent by the Orthodox Church. After Divine Liturgy, a special service is performed and parishoners hold icons . Icons are not just a religious picture, it is a way that God reveals Himself to us. Icons serve a purpose to inspire, teach, guide and encourage the faithful in their quest towards spiritual perfection. During the special service of"Orhtodox Sunday"a message is read, "but to all who have fought for Orhtodoxy, by their words, by their sufferings and religious life, as its defenders and allies, the Church of Christ annually commemorates them with words, "Memory Eternal".
Please come and join us at the Lighthouse Elementary School, 4750 Dakota Drive off of Military Trail in Jupiter. For further information call 561-575-2590.
