Phillips Family Celebrates 85th April Classic

Four generations of the Phillips' Family attended the 85th April Classic at the Jupiter Bowling Lanes on April 22. The occasion was the 85th birthday of beloved husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, Luther Phillips.

Phillips and his wife Esther are residents of Centerville Ohio and have been visiting family in the Jupiter area during the month of April.Phillips is an avid bowler and is a regular in the Senior League at Poelking Lanes in Kettering Ohio where he bowls three days a week.

The four great grandchildren selected teams and with bumpers in each lane preventing the errant gutter balls, 16 family members conquered the lanes. From the strikes and spares that were being scored, it was obvious that the youngest generation had inherited "GP's" bowling genes.

The 85th April Classic was a special day for Phillips. He won the Championship trophy and family members celebrated by treating him to a bowling-themed birthday cake and singing a chorus of Happy Birthday.

Family members attending the April Classic included: John and Lynn Phillips from Jupiter; Angela and Art Parent from Jupiter; Terry, Liz, Melissa, Sydney and Jonathan Daum from Palm Beach Gardens; Larry and Pat Daum from Palm City; and Schuyler, Mandi and Madison Bishop from St. Augustine.
