Calling All Volunteers

Make a Difference in the Lives of Others

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care® is looking for volunteers who live in the north end of Palm Beach County and who are able to share their time with hospice patients living at home, in the hospital or in long term care facilities. Hospice volunteers give their time to terminally ill patients and their caregivers during a critical time. Our volunteers are as diverse as our patients, covering all ages, nationalities, ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles. Some are retired and others are working professionals and students.

VITAS volunteers:

· Visit patients to talk, play cards, read or just listen as they share their own memories

· Play a musical instrument or sing to patients

· Bring a pet as a Paw Pals SM Volunteer into nursing homes, or assisted living facilities

· Work as administrative volunteers in our North Palm Beach office

· Create crafts such as cards, letters, quilts, booties, etc for our patients

· Make supportive calls and visits to bereaved family members.

· Run errands for the patient or give the caregiver a short needed respite

Assignments, location and day/night/weekend schedules are made according to the volunteer's preferences. Most volunteers spend 1-2 hours a week with our patients, some even more.
