Every year, the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves delivers 19.2 million toys to 7.6 million needy children. During these bad economic times, more toys are needed; however, fewer toys are being donated. "Usually, we have the Toys for Tots truck picking up the new, unwrapped toys about every ten days," said Stan Cooprider, the coordinator of the Twelfth Annual Taylor and Modeen Funeral Home campaign."This has not happened this year. We realize that there are a number of new drop off points, but we also know that more toys than ever are needed."
As an incentive, Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home is offering a complimentary Jupiter Lighthouse Poster created by local artist Patti Tuning Hartig to all who drop off a toy for Toys for Tots."We sponsor Cameos of Florida History over WJTW FM 100.3 radio every day and get such a great response when we offer these posters that we decided this would be a good way to encourage donations for Toys for Tots," said Kevin King, general manager of Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home. "There's a week left for donations to be received. We'd like Toys for Tots to be on everyone's giving list this year."
New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street, Jupiter Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For additional information call 744-2030.
