Christopher Maloney, a world-wide touring and recording musician, has opened Absolute Music Studios, a state-of-the-art music lesson facility in Jupiter, Fla. Located in the Alhambra complex near Dubois Park, Absolute Music Studios offers music instruction for individuals of all ages and musical abilities.
Maloney is adopting the teaching methods he used for 15 years at the renowned Musicians Institute in Los Angeles as the core teaching philosophies at Absolute Music Studios. "I believe that every single person can learn to play an instrument and/or sing" says Maloney. "I also believe a lot of the teaching methods used at most lesson facilities are a bit out of date. Students need to continue to learn through reading, but they also need to learn about improvisation and using music in creative ways".
Absolute Music Studios is offering weekly private lessons on most instruments as well as voice. The lessons are custom designed for each student's individual needs and goals. There are also private lessons in childhood music for children under five that focus on developing a child's early musical knowledge. In addition to private instruction, Absolute Music Studios maintains a fully equipped band room for musicians to play as a group. One-hour, supervised band workshops are offered for students to improve songs, work on live performance techniques and play with other musicians. Absolute Music Studios will work with existing bands or put students together of the same age range and skill level.
Before relocating to Jupiter to open Absolute Music Studios, Maloney spent 16 years in Los Angeles as a professional musician, singer/songwriter and educator. He has worked with Dweezil Zappa, Lisa Loeb and members of Journey, INXS and Savage Garden. He has released two solo CDs and his songs have been licensed on radio and television worldwide. Maloney is a published author for Hal Leonard Publishing, and he is a recognized artist and clinician for Fender Musical Instruments, SWR Amplifiers, Carvin Instruments and D'Addario Strings. He has Bachelors Degrees in Music and Communications from Oswego State University, New York and a Vocational Honors Certificate from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Calif.
In addition to his time at Musicians Institute, Maloney has worked at numerous universities and has conducted educational seminars and workshops in several countries. He was a music instructor at the Boys and Girls Club for seven years, and he is a registered volunteer for the Palm Beach County School District.
"I really want to change the perception of what people think about music lessons," said Maloney. "I want our students to learn skills that they can use right away to have fun playing and performing music. We're here to teach people to extend their joy for music beyond the lesson room and to take with them something they can enjoy for the rest of their lives."
