SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN RECENT LOTTERY SCAM
Contributed by: Scott Pascarella on 6/9/2008

The suspects in this case approached the victim on May 5, 2008 and advised her that he needed help in obtaining an attorney because he had won the lottery and needed money to claim his $3,000,000.00 prize. The suspect then told the victim to never mind and approached another female for assistance. The other female agreed to participate, but asked the victim if she would come with her because she did not want to go alone with the male (The other female appears to have been part of the scam. She is shown in a bank surveillance video with the victim).

The victim agreed and then entered an older model silver Lexus sports utility vehicle with the male suspect and the female suspect. Once inside, the female suspect asked the male suspect to show them his ticket. She then supposedly called the telephone number on the ticket and verified the winning numbers. The male suspect advised the two women that he would give them $50,000.00 each, but they needed to come up with $30,000.00. They drove to the victim's bank where she withdrew a total of $1750.00. The suspect then drove them to the victim's residence in Port St. Lucie where she gave him $4,720.00 in cash and $8,000.00 in jewelry.

The three then returned to Jupiter and parked in the parking lot of Chasewood Plaza. The male exited the vehicle and advised that he was going into the Chinese restaurant in order to use the restroom. Before leaving however, he handed the victim a US Postal Service Express delivery bag and advised that it contained the jewelry and cash that she had given him. The female suspect then asked the victim to go into Publix and get medication for the male. The victim proceeded into Publix and entered the bathroom. She then opened the Postal Service Express bag and discovered that it did not contain the money and jewelry that she had given to the male, but rolls of paper. The victim exited the store and was unable to locate the male and female.
