FORT PIERCE - St. Lucie County has lifted the county-wide burn ban that has been in effect since mid-May.

In conjunction with the St. Lucie County Fire District and Florida Division of Forestry, St. Lucie County Public Safety officials lifted the ban on outside burning and fireworks on Friday, after several days of afternoon showers helped lower the drought index. Public Safety officials will continue to monitor the drought index, which is currently 423 out of 800.
