Start off your New Years right, by giving the gift that he/she never got or thought they'd get.
Many children of these impoverished families rarely receive any clothes let alone presents on Christmas day. Of the many poverty-ridden regions of Peru, Ica, is in most need due to a massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck it on August 15 and continues to have strong aftershocks.
Cardboard boxes provide meager shelter. Few farmlands now provide only a semblance of nutrition. Healthcare that could once reach remote areas now cannot due to demolished roads.
So...what can be done to help these children and their families survive this blow to their already shattered lives, you might ask?
By making a Gift Shoe Box we can show them that they are not alone and that there is someone who cares:
1) Fill an empty shoe box with necessary items for a comfortable survival, this includes: small towel, toothbrush/toothpaste, bar of soap, candy, a small age appropriate toy (preferably plush with no batteries), and some form of clothing to protect them from the coming winter.
2) Drop it off at St. Paul of the Cross Church Main Office:
10970 Highway A1A, North Palm Beach, FL 33408, (561) 626-1873
Collection deadline: January 20th 2008: Boxes will be sent to Peru on the 22nd
