The
Rotary Club of Jupiter Tequesta
held it's annual installation banquet this month and installed new President Steven Schafer along with it's board of directors. This years board is a star studded cast of the who's who that made the Jupiter, Juno, Tequesta area what it is today.
The Rotary Club has grown to 57 members and meets every week at Mangrove Bay for lunch and fellowship. The club has numerous local and international civic programs.
The club will begin it's new year with a local school supply drive, a dictionary project to place a back to school dictionary in hands of every local third grader, and a book drive that will put holiday books in the hands of students in need. At the installation banquet, Steven told his membership "that no local student should go without paper and pencil" and the club has taken that challenge.
You do not have to be a Rotarian to support Rotary causes and the Rotary Club of Jupiter Tequesta is actively looking for volunteers and financial supporters for the "back to school drive".
Jerry Rupar, former editor of the Jupiter Courier was named Rotarian of the year for his continued support of the community. Gail Nelson former city manager of Juno Beach was honored for her continued support of the Rotary foundation and it's support of the Polio Plus Project.
Other notable rotarians in attendance were John Avery- local attorney, Bruce Heard - Jupiter Medical Center (ret.), Rick Alford-Alford Air, Mike Grella-Jupiter Inlet District, Jim Hurlbert-Tradewinds Travel, Neal Jagoda-Sundown Development, Marianne Kollmer-Seacoast National Bank and Bob Taylor of The Church of the Good Sheppard.
