A group of Jupiter/Tequesta residents, business owners and representatives of our towns' governments and other supportive organizations have come together in an effort to honor our country's wounded military. The voluntary group,
A Wounded Warrior's Second Chance,
was formed because people who cared saw a need that could be filled here locally. What better place than in the Jupiter/Tequesta area to offer our heroes and their families a respite from the rigors of medical rehabilitation due to life-altering injuries? Through our efforts and with the help of the National Organization,
Operation Second Chance,
we are able to offer at least five heroes, who are given medical leaves from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Medical Center, and their families an all expense paid five day vacation. For this, our second time to bring these heroes and their families to our area, we will be able to give them homes of their own on the water in which to relax, thanks to the generosity of the Lankler family; BBQs, pizza parties, and dinners out at local restaurants; groceries of their choice so that they can enjoy a meal together in private if they wish; theater tickets and charter fishing trips on well-known charter boats (Black Dog Charters); and spa days for the ladies (featuring the very exclusive products from Durmajuv) and babysitting services for the children. On Monday, October 19, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., we will be hosting a "meet and greet" party at the Square Grouper/Castaways (1111 Love Street, Jupiter) so that residents who
have
and
want
to support our cause can come out for food, fun, and to meet our heroes. Please remember: it doesn't matter what your political philosophy may be. We ALL can do something to help relieve some of the suffering our wounded warrior's and their families experience. Please come out and support our cause and show your support for our heroes.
