WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - May 4, 2008 - Members and friends of the Loyal Order of Moose - District 5 gathered on a sunny day in Palm Beach County to help raise over $1,200 for Children's Home Society of Florida's (CHS) South Coastal Division. The 8 th Annual Moose Charity Poker Run found bikers revving up their engines from the Lake Worth to Palm Beach Gardens Lodges, with club stops along the way to select playing cards. Winning hands were awarded cash prizes at the final Gardens Lodge barbecue.

Included in the day-long event was a grand prize drawing of a trip for two on Southwest Airlines to anywhere in the continental United States. The trip, valued at $800, was won by Leif Johnson, immediate past governor of the Jupiter-Tequesta Lodge, and fiancée, Patty Hertvik. The excited couple said the trip could possibly be used during their honeymoon getaway. All airline ticket sale proceeds went to CHS' 13 programs serving children and families in Palm Beach County.

"Helping our community's children is something that falls under our organization's mission," said Chris Nichols, Moose Poker Run Coordinator. "Pairing up with CHS to better the lives of children just makes sense, and we all feel good doing it," he adds.

This is the third year the Loyal Order of Moose- District 5 has assisted in donating to CHS, and both Moose and CHS anticipate continued partnership in raising money for children in need of loving homes and care.

Among the programs delivered locally are adoptions, foster care, child abuse prevention, emergency shelter, parent education, counseling, and more.
