Over $70,000 raised for Special Olympics Florida at The Loxahatchee Club
Jupiter, FL - The first annual Chuck Smith Golf Classic, benefiting Special Olympics Florida, was held on Thursday, October 1, at The Loxahatchee Club. The Chuck Smith Golf Classic honors the memory of Loxahatchee Club member Chuck Smith, who shared in his granddaughter Gillian's love of participation in Special Olympics.
The event kicked off on Wednesday, September 30, with a cocktail reception, silent auction and raffle, at The Loxahatchee Club.
A field of 108 players participated in the golf tournament on Thursday, October 1 st. The tournament format was a "Shamble" - one net best ball of the foursome. A hosted awards luncheon followed the golf tournament.
With the help of the Members of The Loxahatchee Club, Special Olympics staff and tournament participants the event raised well over $70,000.00 through the tournament participants, silent auction and raffle ticket purchases.
The Loxahatchee Club is located just north of Palm Beach in Jupiter. It is a private club of 315 members and proprietary membership is by invitation only.
