Contributed by: amy krasker on 4/10/2008

The Loxahatchee River Watershed Science Symposium will be held on April 30 and May 1, 2008 at the Jupiter Community Center.

This two-day environmental workshop will offer presentations by local researchers and environmental managers, providing the community with the opportunity to learn more about the unique watershed of the Loxahatchee River. Each day will offer guest speakers, exhibits and discussions on topics such as water quality, aquatic flora and fauna, modeling of the watershed, hurricane impacts, and environmental restoration.

A special presentation on the history of the Loxahatchee River will be given by local historian and author Jim Snyder on the evening of April 30 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at The River Center at Burt Reynolds Park.

The event is free and open to the public, and runs from 8:00am to approximately 4:00pm both days. Due to space limitations, pre-registration is required by April 18. By registering in advance, you will be able to receive a complimentary lunch both days. Also, reservations are required for the evening event at The River Center.

You may obtain further information and/or register online at www.loxahatcheeriver.org/symposium or call (561) 742-7123.
