The Lifelong Learning Society at FAU Jupiter will hold its first summer semester from May 13 - July 2. Classes will take place in the Lifelong Learning Complex at Florida Atlantic University's John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.
"Our year round students have requested classes in the summer for years," said René Friedman, director of the Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter. "In summer 2007, we experimented with one class, a film course, to see if we would get a significant turnout. It was successful with more than 250 participants, so we decided to offer a complete summer semester."
The Lifelong Learning program will offer three summer courses:
· "Secrets of the Web," taught by Glenn Singer, a professional journalist and adjunct instructor for FAU's School of Communication and Multimedia Studies. Singer will discuss the valuable information that is available on the World Wide Web and provide the skills to navigate the internet.
· "Classic British Comedy, French Farce and American Madness-In Film," taught by Dr. Benito Rakower. Rakower has taught film and literature courses at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education and at the French Library in Boston, Massachusetts.
· "Dirty Politics," a four-week course taught by Myrna Goldberger, an educational entertainer. This class will focus on political tactics and motives that affected American history.
