PORT ST. LUCIE - Local historian and genealogist Patti Kirk will host a lecture and class at the Morningside Branch Library on Wednesday, June 4.
The genealogy class will take place at Morningside from 10 - 11:30 a.m., followed by the lecture series from 1:30 - 3 p.m. The topic for June's Genealogy History Series lecture will be the Homestead Act of 1862 and its purpose to disperse public lands not yet settled in our country.
These events are free and open to the public.
A historian, genealogist, lecturer, teacher and syndicated columnist of genealogical studies, Kirk is the creator of the Family
History Genealogical Research Group covering Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Brevard counties. This group offers history lectures to the public as well as genealogy classes.
The Morningside Branch Library's Genealogy History Series is held on the first Wednesday of each month through September from 1:30 - 3 p.m. with classes running from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on the same day. For details, call Patti Kirk at (772)
