American Legion Post #271 of Jupiter/Tequesta held their 18th Annual
Golf Tournament on Saturday, 3 May at Jupiter Golf Club. Twenty eight foresomes
teed off in this 18 hole event which granted prizes to foresomes for Low Gross
and Low Net scores, and individuals for closest to the pin on two par threes and
to the line on eighteen.
The Low Gross winners of a round of golf at the Fox Golf Club were; Randy
Harris, Anthony Jackson, Dennis James and Joe Harris. Jim Kilfeatner, Mike
Garrison, Al Wilshire and D. Longewell won a free round at Juoiter Golf Club for
their Low Net score. Individual awards of a putter went to Todd Wolf and Tom
Heroux for closest to the pin on two of the par threes, with Ken Snyder
earning a three wood for being closest to the line on eighteen.
Through the generosity of local merchants and other Golf Clubs all prizes
for tournament competition and raffles, in addition to the food for breakfast
and lunch, were at no cost the the American Legion. This afforded them
the opportunity to donate all the profits from entrance fees and sale of
raffles to charities. This donations to Sea Cadets, Boy's State, Shriners
Children Hospital, and Head Satrt Christmas Party amounted to more than
$7,000.
The American Legion is a non-profit Veteran's Organization and each year
donates all the profits from the Golf Tournament to local charities.
