This coming Memorial Day will be more than just a long weekend and barbeques in Jupiter. That's because members of Jonathan's Landing have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to sponsor a new Habitat home for a veteran of the Iraq/Afghan conflict and their family. The home will be located in the Habitat Kennedy Estates Project, a new 27 home cluster in Jupiter under construction. Members have pledged to raise the entire $110,000 cost to build the1,200 square foot home, which should be ready for Christmas, 2008.
This is the 3rd Habitat home in Jupiter sponsored by Jonathan's Landing. It is a great way to say "thank you" to the brave men and women of our armed services who have served so bravely on our behalf, notes Don Pray, Project Co-chair.
At this point we would like more veterans or active duty military from northern PBC to apply to Habitat to become the Habitat Partner Family for this home. To qualify for the Habitat home they must have a housing need, be earning 40% to 80% of the PBC median family income (typically under $55,000) and be willing to invest 500 "sweat equity" hours on Habitat projects including their home. Complete details are on the Habitat PBC website at
www.habitatpbc.org
including a brochure on Habitat Homeownership and a printable pre-application that is the first step in the process. Questions can be directed to Bernadette Diaz, Habitat Family Services Coordinator at 561-433-3351.
Our goal is to attract 10 applicants over the next 60 days for this home. If you know a veteran we would encourage you to have them contact Habitat to see if they qualify and begin the path to home ownership.
