Lifelong Learning Society Holds Volunteer Luncheon
Contributed by: Kami Barrett on 5/12/2008

The Lifelong Learning Society at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter held its annual volunteer appreciation luncheon to recognize and pay tribute to more than 80 volunteers.

"Our volunteers are the backbone of this program," said Maggie Reiman, class coordinator of the Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter. "They perform a multitude of tasks, and we are very lucky to have a great group of dedicated individuals."

Each year the Lifelong Learning Society honors the commitment of their many volunteers, whose efforts enhance life for senior citizens. Jordan Brown was presented the 2008 Volunteer of the Year Award, which recognizes extraordinary dedication and untiring service.

"For many, many years volunteers have been a critical part of this program. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most creative, energetic, selfless volunteers, and this luncheon is just one small way of saying thank you," said René Friedman, director of the Lifelong Learning Society in Jupiter.

The Lifelong Learning Society at FAU Jupiter is dedicated to enriching the lives of mature students by offering non-credit, university-level courses that are taught by highly qualified professors and distinguished guest lecturers.
